Course Details
Instructors can upload an image to display on the course card for a course located on the Canvas Dashboard. The course card image should easily identify your course for students. Navigation The course navigation menu provides links to help you design course content. You may hide or reorder these links to simplify your course navigation. *Disabling some course navigation links will eliminate student access to them. Disabling others will simply hide the main link. For example, Grades can be hidden from the navigation but won't fully be disabled. (students will see specific grades you post on work if these are hidden but will not see the full gradebook). Note: Please leave Grades hidden. You are welcome to enter grades for student work but we do not want students to see the full 'gradebook.' Please edit the navigation to hide the library link for the library division your students do not need. |
Sections
Sections help subdivide students within a course and offer section-specific options such as varied due dates (Links to an external site.) for assignments, discussions, and quizzes. Sections also display for each student within the course People page and the Gradebook. Sections work well if you teach more than one period of the same course. **You can also create sections to assign materials for just your remote learners. |

As part of an assignment submission, Canvas lets you set up an assignment as a group assignment. You can also choose to grade students individually in group assignments.
If you want to require students review each other's work, you can create a peer review assignment. When requiring peer reviews, you can select whether to manually assign peer reviews or automatically assign peer reviews. |

*Check out this great overview by Scott Discussions Canvas provides an integrated system for class discussions, allowing both instructors and students to start and contribute to as many discussion topics as desired. Discussions allows for interactive communication between two or more people; users can participate in a conversation with an entire class or group. Discussions can also be created as an assignment for grading purposes (and seamlessly integrated with the Canvas Gradebook), or simply serve as a forum for topical and current events. Discussions can also be created within student groups. |
|
Note: Click the Preview button to see what students will see when they take the quiz. Although you can make changes to the quiz after it is published, students who have already opened or completed the quiz will not see any of the changes, which may affect their grades.
You can view student quiz results within each quiz in your course by viewing the quiz results page or moderating the quiz. If a student has multiple quiz attempts, you can also view the results of all attempts. As an instructor, you can choose the type of quiz results to display to students as listed in the quiz options. |
Quizzes
Access quizzes by clicking the Quizzes link in Navigation. In the question type drop-down menu, you can create the following types of quiz questions: |
